How to Wear a Bias Cut Silk Skirt

A bias cut silk skirt is a surprise hero piece in my own wardrobe.

I’ve had one for years and turn to it over and again.

This season, I picked up this black washable silk option in black, from our What to Buy at Quince round-up, and am excited to wear it around the holidays.

Today, I’m sharing two ways to wear it, one that’s dressed up and one that’s dressed down.

And please read within the content, because within these two looks you’ll find a ton of variety, using items we’ve featured over the last few weeks.

The Skirt

Washable Silk Skirt, $59.50

First, let’s dive into you skirt options, starting with our featured piece.

This is the Washable Silk Skirt from Quince, available in six colors, in sizes XS – XL

Alternatively, Banana Republic Factory has an option that  has a size range of XXS – XXL, including petite sizing, and also washable.

For a plus size option, J. Crew has a slip style skirt, on sale for $70 that goes from XXS – 3X, unfortunately it’s not silk, but you can create a similar look.

Dressed Up

black silk shirt, black crewneck sweater, clear cluster statement necklace, black kitten heels, and black pleated clutch

Classic Fit Crewneck Sweater, $128 | Jeweled Cluster Necklace, $90 | Kitten Pumps, $140 | Pleated Clutch, $250

Our first look is holiday ready!

We’re creating an elegant, monochromatic look with all black, but keeping it interesting by using various textures and finishes.

And you can replicate this with any color but, as you know, black is my go-to.

I wore a similar look several years ago in all green. So this is pretty timeless.

Here, I took a simple cashmere crew neck sweater, this one from J.Crew, in sizes XXS – 3X, in a ton of color options

If you picked up the Quince option, of course, where it here.

Then, to play off the neckline, I added this STUNNING cluster necklace from Boden that we featured a few weeks ago.

Prefer a v-neck? Wear one instead and swap the necklace for a bold statement earring.

For shoes, I like these suede kitten heels from Sam Edelman. Wear your favorite heel height, but this tall girl is so happy a tiny heel is popular again.

Finally, I know this evening bag is expensive, and I tried to find a dupe for it, but I just love how it works here.

So if you are looking for a wonderful, classic yet unique bag for special occasions, consider this one by Loeffler Randall with pleated detail

Dressed Down

Silk Skirt with white tank, denim jacket, black vegan crossbody, black and white sneakers, and gold hoops.

Knit Tank Top, $19.90 | Denim Jacket, $118 | Sneakers, $140 | Vegan Saddle Bag, $39.90 | Croissant Dôme Hoop, $78

For our casual look, start with a simple top.

Above I’m using the popular Racer-Back tank from The Drop, in white, for contrast. Available in XXS – 5X

You can wear your favorite tee shirt, in a crew or scoop neckline.

If you want to add more personality, wear a graphic or band tee.

Then, throw on your denim jacket. We like the J.Crew Classic Denim Jacket, in sizes XXS – 3X

Alternatively, you could add a faux leather jacket on top, like this one, also from The Drop for just under $80.

A pair of black and white sneakers look cool and chic here. I’m a huge fan of Veja sneakers. I also like the Adidas Superstars

For a bag, go with something functional, that doesn’t act as a distraction, like this vegan leather option, also from Quince

Finally, I added the Mejuri Croissant Dôme Hoops because they have been on our Reader Favorites list for weeks!
